The Night It All Started: From a Ramp Walk at 8 to Running a Fashion Label at 23

Ever had a dream that quietly followed you around, even when life got loud?

For me, it began under the soft buzz of vanity lights and the nervous chatter backstage. I was 8. Dressed in black heels and a sparkly outfit which looked like a newspaper, I walked my first ramp show in Delhi. I had no idea what I was doing—only that I loved the way it felt.

It wasn't about the attention. It was the energy—the colors, the confidence, the story clothes could tell without saying a word. Something clicked.

Fast forward to 23…

After graduation, side gigs, creative experiments, and a lot of self-doubt, I launched UptownDesi. Not from a high-rise studio or a glossy investor-backed office—but from my room, with scraps of fabric, big hopes, and a Google Sheet budget.

The mission? To create fashion that felt like home—playful, bold, rooted, and conscious.Tie-dye that didn’t scream cliché. Embroidery that didn’t fade into the background.Pieces that felt personal. Because I was tired of the noise. Of fast fashion trends that changed every week and stories that felt... borrowed.

And now, at 25, I’m rewriting what success looks like to me.

It’s not about going viral. It’s about building slowly. Ethically. Honestly. It’s unlearning trends and relearning craft. It’s late-night design blocks, pop-up shoots, and the occasional meltdown over buttons that don’t match the thread (true story).

But more than anything—it’s remembering that 8-year-old me, sparkling and fearless. And making sure she’d be proud of who I’m becoming.
